The VBC supports recreational and competitive sweep rowing and sculling at all experience and most age levels.
We are a master's rowing club and prefer our rowers to be at least 18 years of age.

The VBC offers Learn to Row classes each year (sculling and sweep).
For more information on our LEARN TO ROW program be sure to check our website for updates.

Competitive Rowing
VBC sweep rowers and scullers compete in a number of regattas each year.
The Club regularly has entrants in the Charm City Sprints (Baltimore), the Diamond State Masters Regatta (Middletown, DE),
the Head of the Potomac, the Head of the Charles, and the Head of the Occoquan.

Recreational Rowing

Looking west, Downtown Richmond, from VBC dock
The usually calm James River provides a terrific backdrop for recreational rowing. We have miles of protected water for those who row for fitness, or for the occasional Sunday paddle. The James is rowable east of the 1-95 bridge (1 mile upstream from the VBC), down to (and beyond) Richmond's Deep Water Terminal (4.5 miles downstream).
