Boat Scheduling

Boat Scheduling

The following procedure must be followed to use Virginia Boat Club rowing equipment.

1. Boats may be reserved on a month-by-month basis by members/crews wishing to row on a regular schedule.

a. Reservation sheets will be made available at each boathouse on the first Sunday of each month on a first come-first served basis. Check bulletin boards.
b. Reservations must be made on location only (they will not be posted on-line).
c. A member may reserve the same boat for no more than three days per week. A member may reserve another boat for the remaining days or use the preferred boat if not reserved.
d. If there is a conflict, scheduling disputes will be resolved by the Board.
f. 15 minute rule. If a reservation is not fulfilled within 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, the boat is free to the next rower.
g. Crews who do not row at least 75% of their scheduled slots will automatically lose that slot in the next month if another crew wants it.

2. Boats may also be reserved on a day-by-day or week-by-week basis as follows:

a. Check the reservation schedule on the Bulletin Board each week for available slots.
b. Using a pen, log the your name in the appropriate boat column.
c. Weekly reservations are on a first come-first served basis.
d. 15 minute rule. If a reservation is not fulfilled within 15 minutes after the scheduled start time, the boat is free to the next rower.

3. During the months of Daylight Savings Time, there will be two (2) scheduled time slots for evening rows: 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm.

a. All evening rows must be scheduled in these time slots.
b. The crew with the 5:30 - 7:00 slot must have the boat returned to the dock promptly at 7:00 pm if another crew has scheduled the 7:00 pm slot.
c. If the 7:00 pm slot crew is not there when the 5:30 crew returns to the dock, the boat must be returned to the boathouse.

4. If you have any questions concerning the Boat Scheduling Policy please contact a VBC Officer.

5. Please familiarize yourself with the VBC Fleet & Level Certification.
