1. The Virginia Boat Club dues structure is as follows:
- Rowers: $50 initiation + $300/year
- Families: $50 initiation + $480/year
- Summer College-Rower/Students: $150/May-Labor Day
Any member storing a boat in a VBC boathouse will pay, in addition to his/her regular dues, a boat storage fee ("rack fee") of $100 per boat per year.
Any member participating in special programs (e.g., coached sweep, winter training, learn-to-row) will pay the additional fees of those programs.
All payment must be in full!
A rower is any person, 18 years of age or older, who sweep rows or sculls using club equipment or storage space for their own equipment. A summer college student rower is any person enrolled in college full-time and is a member of a college rowing team or club during the academic year.
2. Dues are not optional and are not dependent on whether or not the weather is rowable.
3. New VBC members must pay their dues in one annual lump-sum payment. Current members who pay in semi-annual or monthly installments may continue those payment arrangements but are encouraged to to move to annual renewals in order to simplify club operations. All Summer College Rower/Student Memberships must be paid in full when joining and their boathouse key must be returned at the end of the season (Labor Day).
4. If a member's dues are not received in a timely manner (within one month of the date due), the following process will take place:
4.1 A letter/email stating that dues are in arrears and that amends should be made immediately will be mailed to that member by the tenth of that month.
4.2 If dues remain in arrears by the first of the following month, that member's privilege to use club equipment and facilities will be suspended until dues are paid. The member's name and the amount owed will be posted in a prominent location in the boathouse.
4.3 Should a member's dues fall ninety days in arrears, his/her membership will be revoked. A letter/email stating this and requesting that individual's key to the boathouse be returned, will be mailed to said individual's home and posted in the boathouse.
5. Anyone wishing to terminate his/her membership with the VBC must submit, by hand or by mail/email, a letter of resignation and boathouse key to a Board member.
6. Members may not quit the Club in the fall and rejoin in the spring to avoid paying dues in the winter.
7. An individual wishing to rejoin the Club must gain Board approval, pay any back dues owed, and pay the initiation fee appropriate to the desired membership.
8. Any exception/interpretation of this policy will be made by the Executive Board.
